For the bigger venues, I plan to use the ZLX's on stands as my speakers for talking to the crowd, while using my other speakers for music only! So though wedges aren't really supposed to be considered as playing music through rather for reference these sound very good considering what we have going into them, the loudness is on par with what stage monitors should be (again I don't believe them to be anywhere near 1000w), but they sound good, will take some weight out of our amp rack and hopefully for the price will last more than 2 years.My overall rating of these would have to be a FAIL for EV, not even close to being on par with EV quality speakers, I would say these are good enough for most bands as monitors and mains for small venues, and DJs for small venues but as far as EV quality not even and for pro gear, just can't see it, so if you need a damn good monitor and keep your stuff in a trailer and gig 1-2 times a month, these are great, otherwise I would step up to the next series or go with QSC. I have been using an old Roland KB 500 for the GR-55 and it works great but it is large and heavy, These powered EV speakers do the job just as good and they don't break up even with a bass at high volume.
